What to Wear for Your Online Business

Have you ever thought about what to wear for your online business? If you were going out to a normal job, you might have a store uniform with a silly hat, or be dressed in business casual, whatever that means, or even a suit and tie! Let me introduce you to the dress code for you when you have your own online business.

I ought to say at this point that what you wear for your online business is entirely up to you. In other words, there is no dress code. You can wear anything from the Emperor's New Clothes to a bear fur coat from the 1920s. But, hear are five suggestions that fall somewhere in between.

1. Pyjamas

Some people not only don't do mornings, they don't do days. An online business is perfect for them because what they wear to bed, they can wear all day. Just keep your webcam switched off.

2. Cut-offs with a tank top

You can understand why some businesses really don't want their employees wearing cut-offs and tank tops. For one thing, it looks as though they don't pay them enough to buy an entire pair of trousers, and for another it's possible to look "too comfortable." And no self-respecting company would want that to happen.

When you have your own online business, you get to make those executive decisions.

3. Bare feet

My wife says that you know that visitors feel at home when they start leaving their shoes around your house. I wonder how your boss would feel if you left them around his office.

In your office, you don't have to wear shoes or socks. Besides, life's too short to have to worry about putting on trivial stuff like that.

4. Sandals

Some people need to have something on their feet, including me; but when it's hot, you don't want to have to don your wingtips or high heels. And sandals, even for guys are so much trendier.

So leave your dress shoes for another time.

5. Hat

Do you remember the days when teachers insisted that you take your hat off in class? Apart from the fact that their eyes weren't visible, I could never understand why it mattered, could you?

In your office, you can wear as many hats as you want: a different one every day, if you like.

This article wouldn't be complete if I didn't mention the fact that you can also wear a sweater all day long and leave the window open.
